About Me

Welcome! I'm Jessica of Myrtle & May Photography and I'm a lot of things. I'm married to an Englishman whom I met on a night out that nearly never happened. I'm the mother of three very small yet incredibly special people whom I love fiercely. I homeschool the older two which basically means they have a super busy social life that I facilitate. I love beginning craft projects (but I never quite finish them..) True crime podcasts are the bees knees, even though they scare me.. a lot. And I believe mothers aren't visible enough in their own lives.

I began my photography journey shortly after my first baby was born early 2015. I was determined to have beautiful images on walls that I existed in, after all I am pretty dang important. I took part in an online course which taught me how to properly use my camera and gave me the knowledge to choose my own style of photographing and editing. From there my passion for motherhood and family photography has only grown stronger.

Photography is more than just beautiful images. It's an emotion that forces you to pause even though a decade has passed. It's the scent you wish would hang around a little longer or the feel of a warm, delicate little body draped over your lap. And those giggles. Those giggles that echo in your head and heart.

We mothers, need this. We need to see our beauty. Time races far too quickly to worry about the perfect time. That perfect time to be seen is right now.

If I resonate with you, let's chat xo

"I wanted to capture some close, connected and authentic moments between my three children and myself before they get much bigger.
We hadn't had a photoshoot since my 6 year old was a newborn.
Jess was amazing and she just connected with my children and treated them with such respect and patience. I have some beautiful memories on my wall that I will forever cherish and I am forever grateful to Jess for making my feel like a queen, and capturing such beautiful moments between me and my not so little babies"
